About

The images on this site were taken during tours of West Belfast. They were taken between October 1986 & December 1988. The areas are mainly around New Barnsley, Turf Lodge, Ballymurphy, The Shankill & Falls road

I have added captions to the photos to the best of my memory however i am over 50 now!

Over the 2 tours I was based in North Howard Street Mill & Moscow Camp. I also did stints at New Barnsley & Springfield road RUC stations and Fort White Rock.

I served with the RCT between 1984 & 1990. During my service i did 2 tours of West Belfast attached to the following Regiments. (RCT & Infantry tours overlapped)

  • 45 Cdo Royal Marines
  • 3rd Btn Royal Anglians
  • 1st Btn Royal Scots
  • 2nd Btn Queens Regiment

Murals

I appeared to spend a lot of time at New Barsnley RUC. This meant lots of time around Ballymurphy, Springhill & Whiterock.
